Detox diets and products have gained popularity for the past few years. Some of them claiming you can lose fat just by drinking special kind of tea. While fat cells cannot be “flushed out” of the body, I still recommend doing detox and here’s why.
Detox is healthy. It helps to get rid of toxins and give your organs a break. Years of eating unhealthy puts a lot of pressure on your organs and weakens immune system. Detoxing can give you more energy, restart your eating habits, eliminate sugar cravings and improve skin and hair. On the top of that, you may lose couple pounds by eliminating waste out of your body and it may help to switch to healthy food to continue weight loss process.
Now, you’re probably expecting I’m going to tell you that all you need to eat is celery and spinach for a week, but you’re wrong. Eating healthy, natural foods will already detox your body. And if you add couple special drinks and other tricks, you’ll feel like new in no time.
- How to eat to detox
Foods to eat:
Preferably organic and fully unprocessed:
- lean meats, grass-fed beef
- whole grains
- fruits and vegetables
- herbs and spices, sea salt in moderation
What not to eat:
- Table salt
- Any processed, sugary or greasy foods and drinks
Include these best detox foods:
- Chia seeds
Finally, consume these two drinks for added detox, one in the morning and one at night.
- Morning drink
Take a handful of spinach, 2 tbsp of lemon juice, 2 tsp of apple cider vinegar, about 1 tbsp of aloe gel (out of aloe leaf) and 1 glass of clean water. Blend it in a blender till smooth.
2. Evening drink
Prepare dandelion tea according to directions (can be bought at any health food store, roasted or raw dandelion is fine). Add a slice of lemon and enjoy. You can add a teaspoon of honey.
During a day, drink lots of clean water and water with lime or lemon.
Part 2: Sweat it out
- If you can, go to sauna or steam room daily for a week.
- Exercise vigorously at least 3 times a week for added detox.
- Use dry brushing to massage your skin before showering every day, always brishing towards the center of your body.
